Overview

 

The Managing Director is in charge of the development and the performance of the Maison within Mainland China.  The Managing Director is the Maison' s contact on the market, representing the company towards partners, landlords and the media.  The Managing Director promotes and defends the Maison’s interests in Mainland China.  This position is a member of the International Executive Committee' s Regional Directors.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  1. Define the strategy for Mainland China development in accordance with the Maison' s strategic objectives

     

  2. Establish and implement the strategy and achieve the objectives agreed in the annual business plan

     

  3. Lead and organize teams and manage processes to achieve the Maison' s goals

     

  4. Protect and enhance the Maison' s image within the market and among clients

 

Responsibility level and criteria to measure effectiveness

 

  1. Manage Local Maison to achieve sales and profitability objectives set by HQ

     

  2. Achieve KPIs set annually by HQ

     

  3. Achieve Maison' s qualitative objectives including but not limited to image, awareness, quality of the distribution network, client satisfaction, and quality of after sales service.

 

Missions

 

Sales & Network Development:

  • Realize the sales and distribution plan in line with the Maison global strategy and roadmap.
  • Ensure Maison’s superior positioning within the market
  • Develop the business and maintain good relationships with key partners
  • Create, realize, and update the five-year network development plan.  Identify and evaluate new markets for business development potential.
  • Meet regularly with landlords to share Maison news and negotiate renewals in conjunction with real estate team
  • Establish KPIs, goals and objectives for the internal and external network
  • Define the local commercial policies in respect of headquarter guidelines
  • Achieve Retail Excellence according to Maison standards
  • Achieve Customer Service Excellence for Maison’s clients through partnership with internal stakeholders

     

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and developing team members for long term success, positive contribution to the Maison’s results and internal career development
  • Review and define annual objectives and KPIs for local team 
  • Ensure the smooth running and careful follow up of the day to day business activities
  • Demonstrate leadership and instill passion for a fulfilling work life

     

Commercial:

  • Plan and manage the openings and closings of boutiques and external points of sale
  • Maintain close control over the distribution network, ensure Maison standards and policies are respected, ensure clients receive service fully meeting Maison’s expectations
  • Manage stock levels, oversee assortment planning, achieve stock rotation objectives, and manage product lifecycle according to targets set by the Maison

     

Marketing & Communication:

  • Oversee the MarCom annual plan and associated strategies
  • Supervise the implementation of the annual marketing & communication plan to create value for the Maison and its clients, including but not limited to, the creation of media, promotion, CRM, digital, PR plans
  • Handle business contacts with different external and/or internal agencies
  • Define and manage local internal and external Communication policies

     

Financial:  

  • Manage direct expenses and costs
  • Analyze expenses to identify cost savings
  • Achieve Maison profitability goals.

     

Internal Communication:

  • Support an efficient and effective information flow between local market and Maison HQ through clear and frequent communication, reporting and transparency.
