MAIN PURPOSE

  • The Head of Controlling oversees the Controlling department within the Finance function.
  • He / She also contributes to the overall Mexico Finance function. The role is a key support to manage the financial performance, assist the brands to ensure KPIs are met and provide relevant analysis.
  • He / She will ensure the consistency and compliance of the financial reporting closings, internal control rules and processes and provide relevant analysis to gain efficiency
  • He / She will be leading the Controlling team and act as a senior leader in managing the overall coordination between the Brands and other Richemont functions to ensure financial objectives are achieved.
  • He/she is responsible for the monthly compliance with local Anti-Money Laundry Law.
  • This position reports to the Finance Director and will be working directly with the local Brand management/teams and with the Regional FP&A team/Brands HQ piers.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Key responsibility:

 

BUDGET, PLANNING, REPORTING

  • Prepare and monitor yearly / 3-year budgets and last estimates; provide management with planning and control information by assembling and analysing historical financial data, cost control variance analysis vs budget or latest estimates, identifying trends, providing forecasts, explaining processes and recommending actions for improvement of operating results;
  • Prepare annual and monthly forecasts by brand for P&L as well as all balance sheet positions.
  • Explain financial activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; Ensure in coordination with Accounting department that financial closings are fairly stated.
  • Oversee functions related to accounting for Sales, Cost of Goods Sold, CAPEX, A&P and Inventory (reconciliation of interfaced accounts).
  • Reviews together with the team the correct AP postings (cost nature wise).
  • Prepare and/or Reviews profit margin by product, by brand, product family, on monthly basis.
  • Perform specific accounts analysis when required.
  • Prepare and monitor information related to shared services and total company budgets.
  • Prepare and/or supervise monthly reconciliation with work papers for g/l accounts under the team’s responsibility (payments methods -retail AR-, retail sales, department store variable rent, advance payments, allocation, quarterly provisions).
  • Prepare monthly IFRS16 postings.
  • Prepare and review quarterly adjustments (SRP, Slow Moving, Guarantee).
  • If required, prepare and/or Supervise all Estimates (reforecasts) when required.

 

 

COMMERCIAL SUPPORT / MARKET INTERLLIGENCE AND ANALYSIS

 

  • Identifies and collects the needs of the Maisons in terms of market intelligence, defines and implements a plan to address those needs through the collection and presentation of relevant data.
  • Develops analysis and understanding of the relationship between the performance of Richemont Maisons in the MEXICO and key macro-economic indicators and other external parameters (tourism data, swiss watch export, inflation, F/X rate, …).

 

Wholesale:

  • Monitors the evolution of the wholesale network across the country
  • Defines and prepares regular analysis of commercial performance (including margin analysis) and distribution per city, partner when required

 

Retail:

  • Researches and maintains up-to-date market knowledge on the presence of Richemont maisons and key competitors in selected malls/retail locations in the country
  • Defines and prepares regular analysis of the performance (sales and profitability) of the group’s internal boutique network in the country (including vs wholesale network)
  • Supports the identification of new business opportunities by keeping track of new retail developments and business trends with support of the Finance Director.
  • Provides support on specific projects and analysis (opening of new boutiques, renegotiation of lease terms…)
  • Prepare of monthly reports and performance cockpits with variance analysis of Actual against Budget, LE and Last Year and follow up corrective actions
  • Prepare investment requests when required/needed.
  • Assist brands with various ad hoc reports/analysis

 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT KEY USER

  • Key element of the organisation, he / she is also functional leader/key user for the Gemini project, i.e. offer local support to colleagues, participate to the tests and make sure that the processes are well understood and properly followed in his/her organization
  • Create and maintain the CO objects (Internal Orders) and the customizing tables & sets in SAP PR1.
  • Maintain and run allocation cycles.
  • Maintain VIM Matrix.

 

 

PROCESSES

  • Identify opportunities to gain efficiency on operating processes and bring permanent value to the organization. For the financial part, work on process mapping jointly with other areas such as HR, Logistics or IT to identify areas of improvement and cost reduction. Design workflows and procedures when needed.
  • Develops and implements monthly reporting tools to efficiently and accurately present financial information to Brands and Support Service departments.
  • Provide management with timely reviews of organization’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities

 

TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible for the management and development of the Controlling team (3 controllers), i.e. engage, develop and lead the team, participate in designing the optimum organization, recruit the right profiles, drive performance and compensation management, ensure talent development through feedback, training and development plans to motivate and reinforce engagement, ensure succession planning
  • Provide leadership in building out controlling best practices across the organisation
