Regional Director  Product & Trade Compliance

 

Position Summary:

 

Product & Trade Compliance (PTC) is a key function of Richemont’s global supply chain organization whose purpose is to maintain the external reputation of the entity by controlling the ongoing supply chain flows of products in accordance with the laws and regulations. The person in charge is responsible for developing and implementing a regional trade compliance strategy to protect and cover the needs of the US, Canadian, Mexico, Brazil, and Latin America/Caribbean markets. This role is responsible for applying the Group Product & Trade Compliance (GPTC) directives to the region, and on the other hand agreeing with the Group headquarter on regional procedures, considering the local constraints/restrictions.

 

The responsibilities include the direct management of full-time and part-time trade compliance managers in each market along with supporting the regional logistics organization. Within the supply chain, the product & trade compliance function has specific responsibility that is free of any operational contingency to remain objective and impartial. The Regional Director of Product & Trade Compliance (RDPTC) responsibility applies to Customs law, non-tariff barriers, consumer protection regulation, and disposal rules as well as to transport and warehousing legal and voluntary norms within the region.

US, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Latin America, and The Caribbean

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build strong working relationships with local Maison networks to achieve high collaboration on control of regional initiatives, data compliance, and testing.
  • Build and maintains a strong network composed by authorities, brokers, professional associations, and Group Product & Trade Compliance (GPTC).
  • Lead and guide a team of Regional Product & Trade Compliance Managers onsite and in the countries
  • The RDPTC is the final advisory level for the region regarding product & trade compliance topics covering all markets within the region.
  • Hands on responsibility and oversight towards the continued development of the governance pillars (Training, KPI’s and PTC-Audit) in each market.
  • Responsible for implementing tools to secure regulatory environment in the markets.
  • Oversee and ensure the delivery of guidelines and/or procedures to implement the regional standards and Group directives.
  • Oversee regional product and trade compliance risk assessments, including the development of action plans based on risk assessment results.
  • Be accountable for trade Certification regulation assessment (C-PAT, PIP, CO2)
  • Utilize strong interpersonal skills to work across stakeholders to enable business.
  • Provide senior leadership and GPTC with regular reports on the results of regional trade compliance program to facilitate assessment regarding the effectiveness of the program.

 

 

Research new laws/regulations which can impact workflows in and out of the markets relevant to the Company’s regional business including but not limited to:

Job Requirements

  • Luxury goods sector experience preferred (Jewelry, Watches, Leather Goods, Apparel, Fragrance)
  • US Customs Broker License
  • Minimum of 10years of experience in international trade compliance, regulatory, or related experience within a global company, with a working knowledge of trade regulations in North and South America.
  • Able to motivate and lead direct report managers who are working in other geographical locations within the region.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Certified Regulatory Compliance Preferred, not required

  • Good level Country of Origin Marking &Labeling Requirement
  • Good level Free Trade Agreement programs.
  • Good level Freight forwarding & INCOTERMS
  • Good level project management
  • Good level Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
  • Good level Foreign Trade Zone rules and regulations
  • ERP system proficiency. SAP preferred.

 

Language Requirements

Fluent oral and writing skills in English and Spanish preferred. Business fluency in French and Portuguese is a plus.
