Junior Controller

 

The Junior Controller will support the Controlling Teams along the Controlling Process (Plan-Report-Analyse-Decision Support), ensuring clear goal setting, monitoring, and analysing actual financial performance. They will prepare financial statements and reports for management as well generating actionable insights and proposed measures to ensure financial targets are met. Furthermore, the Junior Controller will assist in the monthly closing processes, budgeting, and forecasting cycles. They will act as the trusted assistant to the controller.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?


Key Value Drivers: 

 

  • Identify key revenue and cost drivers of the main stakeholders and define metrics/performance indicators to measure/monitor performance accordingly.
  • Define requirements in regard to reporting and controlling processes towards respective operational units.
  • Maintain and communicate adequate policies and procedures and monitor compliance with policies and procedures. 

 

Commercial Performance Management:

 

Plan

  • Support in defining of the business priorities of main stakeholders, in co-operation with the Controlling Team.  
  • Support in defining ambitious, but realistic, financial targets for the main stakeholders 
  • Translate the strategies of main stakeholders into long-term financial targets and investment priorities, as basis for demand planning and sales development.

 

Report

  • Support in defining requirements for insightful consolidated end-to-end performance report, as well as drill down expert oriented reporting in specific functional areas. 
  • Responsible for ongoing timely and efficient delivery of performance reporting to all stakeholders.

 

Analyse & Decision Support

  • Proactively initiate and undertake ad-hoc financial analysis to identify improvement potentials and derive actionable measures.  
  • Ensure accountability for budget/forecast target fulfilment and corrective actions on monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for defining and continuously refining cost contingency plans, in collaboration with the Controller.
  • Support to defining any Business Cases (both commercial and project-based) from a financial perspective, ensuring feasibility, advising, supporting, challenging, and intervening if needed. 

 

Internal Control System Coordination:

 

  • Support in implementing, directing, and overseeing the auditing and compliance programs.  
  • Supporting direct audits and ongoing reviews of organisation controls, operating procedures, and compliance with policies and regulations. 
    Reviews and appraises the soundness, effectiveness, and proper application of accounting, financial controls, compliance procedures and controls.
    Compiles and issues reports detailing conclusions and providing recommendations for improvements. 

 

HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCCESS WITH US?

 

  • Master degree in the following: economics, business administration, business accounting, applied economics and finance, certified public accountant, certified management accountant. 
  • More than 2 years of professional experience at administrative level
  • Less than 2 years at a similar role. This is an entry level position.
  • Ideally you have a combined business controlling and consulting background

 

Personal Skills:

 

  • Strong business, commercial and financial acumen. 
  • Strong communication, collaboration, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • High degree of autonomy and ability to be assertive.
  • Result and solution oriented with a get things done mentality.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (Dutch and/or French is a plus)

 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Experienced in tax, financial accounting, financial analysis, treasury management, audit. 
  • SAP (or similar ERP System);
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Experienced in creating interactive data visuals, like Power BI, Google Looker.
  • Project Management.
