This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sports communications professional to lead on communications strategies, manage events and drive growth in a complex but exciting digital era. As PR & Communications Manager, you will have in-depth communications experience and a passion for sport. You will work closely with members of the media and content teams to ensure that we deliver a clear, compelling and consistent message in all external communications. You will be competent working with both traditional and new media platforms, and have a deep professional understanding of the ever-evolving digital and social media landscape. Ideally possessing in-house or agency sports communications experience, they are a personable, unflappable and collaborative leader and team player with an eye for detail and a flair for creative ideas.


  • Lead on production of Laureus’ written communications strategy, from press releases and written statements to proactive and reactive communications plans throughout the year. Develop and implement a consistent tone of voice for the organisation.
  • Develop and execute media engagement strategy that drives awareness of the Laureus brand, starting with UK market. Focusing on earned media relationships, this should incorporate print and online media, as well as influencer and new media platforms.
  • Procure, manage and mentor PR Agencies in build up to Laureus World Sports Awards, ensuring Laureus has a deeper and more favourable relationship with media in key markets.  Act as primary point of contact for all agencies, supervising their work and using their market knowledge to identify opportunities and inform the broader key market strategy.
  • Develop athlete communications plan. Lead on athlete media management, including any media briefings and media training for Academy Members and Ambassadors.
  • Internal relationships – work with Sport for Good team to develop a Laureus Sport for Good communications strategy. Focus on storytelling, bringing emotional and powerful stories of +160 programmes around the world to life.
  • Develop media partnerships strategy, working with commercial colleagues to explore fundraising opportunities and collaborations with major sports platforms and brands



  • A proven career in Communications, covering major events and working within the sports industry
  • Have a good understanding of social media and how to fully exploit content on different available channels and media platforms
  • Excellent organisational skills (budget, media and event management, external agencies)
  • Must be able to multi-task and stay calm in high pressured situations
  • Excellent people and problem-solving skills required
  • Articulate in both written and spoken english 
  • Passion for sport with a real appetite to embrace an inspirational sport for good culture
  • Experience in large scale events would be advantageous
