COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR, JAPAN

 

Reporting to Managing Director, Japan and being an Exco member in the region, the Commercial Director is responsible for the omnichannel sales and distribution for the Maison in the region, oversees and develops both internal and external network performance and profitability in line with Maisons strategy and identity.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Commercial Strategy & Performance:

  • Play a pivotal role in building the regional commercial strategy and roadmap
  • Support growing boutique network establishing clear processes, implementing clear development roadmaps based on business opportunities and maison priorities.
  • Define clear roadmaps for Wholesale network performance (visibility, productivity) and identify white spots within the market to solidify the distribution with the right partners.
  • Develop omnichannel distribution and network evolution strategy to leverage business opportunities across the region
  • Provide insights from the market on competition and trends
  • Actively contribute to build the long-term business plan as well as yearly strategic plan
  • Ensure efficient product management : Novelties, pipeline, replenishment, core assortment, HWM strategy, stock coverage etc·
  • Implement Ecom roadmap to establish Ecom as Jaeger LeCoultre online flagship store. Manage and coach internal Ecom and CRC teams
  • Collaborate closely with HQ on strategic initiatives that contribute to brand equity for the region and its markets
  • Define and lead commercial partnership strategy and its implementation to achieve retailization goal in the region.

 

Retail Excellence:

  • Define key strategies for the Maison in retail and client-centric environment
  • Elevate the retail operation by identifying business needs and implementing strategies to guarantee the highest standards of boutique operations and to enhance the Maison’s performance
  • Develop measurable and impactful KPIs and define strategy and action plans to motivate and lead retail teams with clear directions based on the Maison’s goals and long-term visions
  • Benchmark and drive hospitality and client-centric initiatives to deliver memorable in-boutique experiences for sustainable growth
  • Develop and implement action plans to grow local and VIC clients. Build direct relationships with VVIC. Ensure the boutiques are properly animated to attract new clients and connect with existing clients

 

External Network Management

  • Partner with distributors to develop the sales and the equity of the Maison in different markets
  • Build strong relationships with partners and drive commercial action plans (i.e., assortment, training, performance management, boutique animation, incentives) to support the development of the Maison
  • Closely monitor and report on the key sales data (i.e., Sell in, Sell out, stock)

 

Team Management & Talent Development

  • Inspire, coach and manage Retail team and functional teams to create a passionate environment
  • Develop hand-in-hand with HR on career path to grow our commercial & retail talents
  • Nurture the retail culture and diffuse a strong Retail mindset in the region
  • Foster new ideas that bring added-value to the Maison by providing cohesive and entrepreneurial environment

 

ABOUT YOU:

  • Languages: Native or fluent Japanese and fluent English (mandatory).
  • Retail Expertise: Proven experience managing retail stores and networks.
  • Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Retail Performance: Deep understanding of retail performance drivers.
  • Operational Excellence: Operationally savvy with a passion for identifying and implementing new trends and best practices.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments and with HQ.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels and with partners (sales associates, VIC clients, department store managers, HQ Senior Management).
  • Teamwork & Project Management: Strong team working and project management skills.
  • Integrity & Results-Oriented: High integrity, dependability, and a strong results-oriented approach with a track record of delivering to plan.
  • Global Mindset: Experience working in international and global environments.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, including proficiency in PowerPoint and strong Excel skills for data analysis.
