Cartier North America is seeking an expert/buyer for our tradition (vintage) department.  This position will be responsible for attending trade shows, monitoring auctions, and the market as well as have the ability to meet with private clients in the pursuit of authentic Cartier vintage product.  The ideal candidate will be able to personify the Cartier spirit through a deep understanding and conveyance of brand values, culture, image, and brand policies


Source vintage merchandise for Cartier Tradition stock purchases following established procedures to maximize stock levels assisting the Tradition Director with vendor relationships and all support activities of the purchase process.


  • Identify, document and research potential purchases from all sources, vendors, trade shows, private clients, care service, and auctions maintaining accurate and exhaustive records of all research results.
  • Track all merchandise considered for purchase with prices asked and offered and accepted
  • Verify authenticity of potential purchases in conjunction with the Tradition Director
  • Propose purchases to the Geneva team for authorization
  • Receive items in compliance with current procedures
  • Create vendors and POs partnering with HJ merchandising and Geneva, request reference numbers
  • Expedite engraving, repair/refurbishment, photography of stock
  • Accurately catalog with precise detail new stock in existing systems to create stock sheets, stock cards, and Certificates of Authenticity
  • Update and maintain purchase authorization forms and “Leads Online” adhering to all international approval/documentation/reporting processes
  • Create and maintain an exhaustive listing of purchases and sales with photos.
  • Events support


Offer sales support with product information and marketing tools

  • Provide detailed product information as requested from Boutiques
  • Field client requests from Boutiques to find most appropriate offer from worldwide stock
  • Liaise with Geneva team to source stock for US request to best meet client needs
  • Create tools for events to support sales efforts


Cartier Seeks Cartier Initiative

  • Field client offers to sell to Cartier maintaining our excellent level of client service
  • With resumption of Cartier Seeks Cartier advertising answer client calls to 800 number to evaluate items for re-purchase
  • Liaise with Boutiques and the Contact Center for client requests to sell items to Cartier
  • Launch research for all unknown references sent for client service, documenting, and communicating results, identifying items for potential purchase


Brand Ambassador


  • Uphold Cartier image by always maintaining professional demeanor and be an Ambassador for the Brand






  • 4-year College degree preferred
  • GIA certification a plus


Required Experience


  • A minimum of 4 years of client facing experience in luxury retail jewelry or related industry
  • Auction experience is a plus


Technical Skills


  • Very strong computer skills – Proficiency in Outlook, Excel and Windows is required, previous SAP experience preferred


Language skills


  • Additional language skills (French or Spanish) are a plus


Personal Skills


  • Must be able to travel a few times a year - primarly within the states. May be international at some point.  
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including late evenings and occasional weekends
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills are required
  • Ability to interact with top VIP clients
  • Natural interest and curiosity in HJ, FJ and Tradition product range as well as in the luxury industry
  • Strong understanding of the demanding luxury client (internal and external) priorities
  • Exacting attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision
  • Ability to project an approachable and professional image in personal appearance, manner, and demeanor
  • Natural interest in history and art
