OVERVIEW: The Director Learning & Instructional Design is a key member of the Learning & Transformation Team charged with leading the design, development and deployment of training programs of the Maison under the strategic vision of the AVP Learning & Transformation.  The Director is expected to demonstrate broad learning leadership and have experience in a variety of delivery methodologies including but not limited to instructor led training, eLearning, distance learning, self-paced reference materials, peer-to-peer learning/social learning, experiential, etc.  Program development will be focused heavily on Cartier Boutique programs (on boarding, product training, selling ceremony, clienteling, etc.) but will also include the development of substantial corporate training programs. It will be the responsibility of the Director and team to facilitate programs in the corporate office, provide TTT to field trainers for boutique training, as well as facilitate boutique training in Pilot launches or delivered as TTT.  The Director will have a small team of L&D Generalists to support the goals.



  • Learning & Development
    • Deep experience in Learning & Development from Instructional Design to Facilitation
    • Strong leadership and ability to interact with subject matter experts across a variety of organizations
    • Clearly and concisely present ideas to executives and clients
    • Under the direction of the AVP Learning & Transformation, determine whether to build, buy or curate content to meet the needs of the client
    • Strong first-hand experience building complex, highly visible learning programs and other items from analysis, storyboard, design and development
    • Partner with the Director of Sales Coaches (Field Trainers/Coaches) during development of programs, TTT, and deployment of programs to the boutiques
    • Execute learning program reviews with AVP Learning & Transformation and clients to secure sign-off at each designated milestone to keep the project on time and on budget
    • Facilitate trainings at the corporate office (through L&D Generalists or themselves depending on level of audience)
    • Pilot and test programs
    • Partner with parent company Richemont L&T as well as Cartier International L&T in order to prevent duplication of efforts, leverage work, build from platform programs and collaborate on the development calendar
    • Design and plan into all programs some level of efficacy measurement (Kirkpatrick model)
  • Project Management
    • Coordinates and implements work and projects for team and/or external vendors
    • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of executive dashboards, reports, presentations, etc.
    • Plans, prioritizes, and organizes work in order to meet development and launch dates
    • Sets and tracks goal progress for self and others
    • Monitors the team to ensure it is completed on time and meets expectations

  • Building Relationships
    • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders across corporate and the one network
    • Work with business partners to ensure training meets the needs of the individual stakeholders and audience members



  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience Learning & Development and 6 years Instructional Design in a large scale retailor
  • Significant first-hand design and development experience for the retail environment including product, client experience, leadership and operations.
  • Strong experience using development tools, e.g., Articulate, Storyline, Captivate, and Adobe Creative Applications
  • Experience leading a team
  • Experience consulting to customers providing training design and development across multiple mediums (e.g. eLearning, video, instructor-led, distance learning)
  • Experience managing third-party development vendors who produce training materials under the AVP Learning & Transformation’s guidance and direction
  • Experience managing complex programs and learning projects leveraging project management expertise
  • Experience in the luxury market important
  • Experience in a multi-national company important
  • Strong proficiency in digitally creative instructional design and facilitation skills 
  • Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines, and allocate and identify resources as needed
  • Minimal travel required
  • Works well both in collaboration with others as well as independently
