Report to the technology director and work closely with the design team to develop new experiences for Cartier’s clients, staff, and the public at large. Produce physical & digital experience prototypes. Contribute to the development of digital tools and techniques for Lab’s design process. Translate design intent into products ready for launch. Must love technical challenges. We are after a special kind of design engineer and it’s likely you have a background in software and maybe electromechanical engineering.



  • Collaborate with Lab leadership and graphic/industrial design team on provocative, surprising, creative, and effective projects that address concepts spanning across the Cartier ecosystem.
  • Hands-on prototyping in both software and hardware, without relying solely on virtual design tools.
  • Develope and iterate prototypes with a goal of technical reliability and replicability.
  • Evaluate and test technical feasibility of new concepts.
  • Code base management. Must be able to function as a project collaborator as well as an independent contributor. Experience with Machine Learning and dataset training a plus.



  • Bachelor or advanced degree in application software engineering, electromechanical engineering, tangible interaction design, or related field.
  • 3+ years of technical expertise in software development, physical prototyping, and design for manufacturing.
  • A portfolio of work demonstrating technological knowledge, ideas and creativity.
  • Story-boarding, mapping, & wire framing experience. Your work at the Lab will bridge the physical and the digital.
  • Preferred competence in the following: JavaScript, Node.js, Three.js, Swift or Android Studio, C#/C++, Python, Git and GitHub.
  • Expertise with software and hardware tools for digital interaction, XR interaction, physical computing/microcontroller platforms and sensor-based interactivity. Knowledge of industry wide technology trends and best practices.
  • A healthy obsession with how things are made and how they work.
