Director of Merchandising

Role Overview

Reporting to the CEO, the the primary responsibility of the Director of Merchandising is to develop and lead the execution of the product assortment strategies to drive revenue growth and increase market share. In this role, the candidate needs to have a strong understanding of market trends, competitive landscape and translate it to client needs through a curated assortment for North America. 

 

Responsibilities

Merchandising Strategy Development

  • Develop a long-range omni merchandising vision and roadmap for all product categories
  • Lead product growth strategies to reach sell-thru target and meet sales/margin goals
  • Curate local assortment by collaborating with Category on market specific needs and retail segmentation
  • Develop in depth clients’ knowledge by closely following their purchasing behavior and aspirations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to elevate brand positioning and drive increased sales
  • Partner with visual merchandising, marketing and ecommerce teams to ensure client shopping experience in stores and online is consistent with the brand vision
  • Lead strategic thinking and ownership on top of business execution across all categories and channels

 

Product Assortment Planning

  • Proactively anticipate sales needs/trends based on product performance and market evolution
  • Lead team to manage in-season OTB and OTS (receipt/shipment) to maximize business opportunities
  • Drive market assortment planning & product investment decisions (sku breadth and depth)
  • Partner with Planning & Allocation team to align on financial & inventory targets and monthly phasing
  • Manage product life cycle and 360 launch execution (phase in/ out, visual merchandising alignment)
  • Collaborate with Category and Sales to develop price positioning that balances profitability with client value
  • Continuously provide hindsight and analysis of investment decisions against product performance to incorporate learnings into future seasons

 

 

      Team Leadership

  • Lead, inspire and develop local merchandisers to ensure talent development and maximize performance
  • Foster cross-functional relationships with Retail, Corporate and HQ teams
  • Manage concurrent priorities between subsidiary and HQ

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of Merchandising experience
  • Extensive knowledge of US markets preferably with Fashion and Retail background
  • Experience in team management
  • Excellent knowledge of ERP tools (SAP, AS400…) and analytical tools (BI, Looker, SAC)
  • Ability to drive results through effective written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational skills with particular attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects on time sensitive schedules
  • Commitment to exemplifying the highest integrity and professional business standards
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities

Expected Salary Range: $145,000 - $170,000

Salary will be negotiated based on relevant skills and experience
